Welcome to Wakefield Street Kitchen

Wakefield Street Kitchen is a charitable organisation based in Wakefield and offering food, clothing and support to the homeless and all those in need in and near the West Yorkshire cathedral city.

The dedicated volunteers at WSK run a food bank and a ‘meals on wheels’ service where hot, nutritious meals are delivered to local people.

“Feeding the Community”

Wakefield Street Kitchen has the philosophy of feeding without judgement, and is happy to assist any member of the local community. WSK’s workers don’t just feed people who are struggling – they feed people who deserve the best.

In Wakefield city centre and a string of nearby areas, including Flanshaw, Horbury and Lupset, volunteers for the charity can deliver food and clothing to whoever needs these supplies.

WSK’s history of homeless support and more

This Wakefield community kitchen was founded by Anna Natasha Howard in 2019 and has since received many food donations from businesses like Aldi, Asda, Greggs, Morrisons and Warburtons as well as individual members of the Wakefield community.

These days, when someone seeks food or clothing from the charity, it’s usually because someone else has recommended that they do so.

Wakefield Street Kitchen is registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales — under the charity number 1184844 — and has been handed a five-star food hygiene rating by the Food Standards Agency.

How to contact Wakefield Street Kitchen

Perhaps you wish to approach this fully insured charity to source food or clothing during what is a difficult time for you, or are interested in making a food or clothes donation to Wakefield Street Kitchen. Either way, it’s easy to get in touch. As volunteers are needed at WSK, you can also enquire about volunteering opportunities.

Amazing thank youFundraising update!! With less then 3 weeks till I do the Yorkshire 3 peaks, I thought it was time for an update! So far we have raised over £500 🥳 This will be going to Wakefield Street Kitchen and Yorkshire Air Ambulance. On Saturday we will be having a GROWN UP'S TABLE TOP SALE!, all grown up clothes are 20p each and the money raised will go towards the fundraiser. I havent done as much walking as I would have hoped but the treadmill is being used and I have been doing high intensity workouts 3 times a week at X Martial Arts Schools, Wakefield (this has also been incredible for my mental health) The Challenge will take place on 3rd May and I'm really looking forward to it.
